Description: Up for sale is a beautiful bronze plaque from the 1893 Columbian Worlds Fair in Chicago. The piece is quite large and heavy. The piece is approximately 16.5 inches in diameter and features a central circular panel featuring a portrait of Christopher Columbus, three-quarter to left, with panels around that illustrate his sighting of land, his arrival upon land and his return to the Spanish court. Above are scenes from the Columbian Exposition's White City, divided by an American flag and shield. The artist's signature is at the lower right, TONELLI / PARIS 1892.
