Description: I’ve been a woodworker since a young age and have always had an interest in wood and trees. About 30 years ago I got curious about some lesser-known woods and made up some dried samples of them. I soon arrived at a standard sample size and made samples of every wood I could get my hands on. A wood dealer introduced me to the International Wood Collectors Society which is currently celebrating its 75th year. If you love wood – join!I joined as a life member and, as a woodworker, made standard 1/2 X 3 X 6” samples from the exotic woods I had purchased and sold them to members of the club. They liked them and wanted more so I obliged. I have field collected woods from 48 states and a few foreign countries and am constantly seeking out woods new to me for making samples. I have produced many thousands over the past 30 years and have a personal collection of about 7,000 different species.Until now I sold primarily to IWCS members, but also to schools, institutions, government agencies, etc., around the world. Today, I have too much inventory of many species and will be offering seven different sets, each different, of about 40 pieces. These are accurately sized and sanded to final thickness and width and are labeled same as or similar to the photos. These specimens were originally collected by wood and botany professionals, then by the general public. Aside from collecting, these can be used for knife scales, pistol grips and a variety of craft items.
