Arthur Smith Kimball Ipswich Painter Signed Original Oil Painting Landscape

Description: This is an original oil painting by artist Arthur Smith Kimball (1856-1937). He was part of a group of painters called the Ipswich Painters. By trade, he was a college singing professor at the Conservatory of Music at the Oberlin College in Ohio 1833-1924. In the summers, he would go to Ipswich, Massachusetts, and paint. He painted impressionistic Ipswich landscapes. This is a river scene that looks like it may have been painted late autumn. There is one warm brown tree on the river's shore in the foreground and cool blue and white river and misty hills and trees in the distance. The reflections, light, and perspective are expertly executed. The painting is oil on canvas, 22" wide x 16" tall. It is framed in a 3" gold wooden frame with acanthus leaf carving. The outside frame measurement is 28" x 22". Painted late 19th - early 20th century. Condition is very good. There is one scratch on the paint surface top left and one small crack in the paint from the stretcher bar on the tree, top right. Please see the photos and item details for more specifics.
