True species from the type locality where it was discovered by famed German botanist Hans von Tuerckheim in 1900. Founder was legally field-collected more than two decades back at Cubilgüitz, Alta Verapaz Department, Guatemala. Columnea sulfurea is known from collection made on the Caribbean slope of Guatemala, Belize, and extreme western Honduras. Central Mexican reports from Gulf coast localities claiming to be this species are a similar looking, currently undescribed sibling species. Easy to grow, temperature tolerant and very floriferous when well established with stunning clear yellow flowers. Makes for a fantastic hanging basket for warm, shady terraces. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number for physical addresses within three working days of receipt of payment, weather permitting. 72 hour heat packs are available for an additional nominal charge. Wherever possible, plants will be shipped in plastic pots. If bare-rooting is required for shipment to your state, please advise when auction is completed.
