SQUARE NECKLINE IS TRIMMED IN IRISH CROCHET WITH LAYERS OF SCALLOPING ALONG THE EDGES OF THE EMBROIDERY THROUGHOUT, THIS WAS PROBABLY ONCE A MOST LAVISH EMPIRE GOWN WITH LONG TRAIN. THE SCALLOPS OF THE CUFFS ARE EDGED IN LACE WITH SCALLOPING ALL ALONG THE BOTTOM EDGE HEM. THE SKIRT HOOKS CLOSED IN THE REAR AND IS IN THREE ROWS OF THE EMBROIDERY. CONDITION: THIS PIECE HAS BEEN FRESHLY HAND LAUNDERED AND IS IN CRISP, CLEAN CONDITION. THERE ARE TWO PERIOD MENDS TO THE FABRIC THAT I BELIEVE WERE DONE IN THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY, JUDGING BY THE STITCH WORK, EACH IS JUST ASIDE THE SCALLOPING.
