Gants Hill, a suburb of Ilford in Essex, has a rich cultural history stretching back to turn of the last century. This is the first photographic publication to focus specifically on the area, illustrating in detail how the farmland of the early 1900s seemed to change overnight into a major commuter suburb from the 1930s. Each photo is presented with informative captions carefully researched by local businessman and founder of the Gants Hill Facebook Group, Vincent Goodman, together with experienced tour guide and lecturer Jef Page, President of the Ilford Historical Society.
