I have for sale a motor mount I designed to allow easy and secure installation of a Kato HM-5 motor into most medium-to-large Athearn "blue box" and RTR diesel locomotives. I have repowered dozens of locos and once I started making these mounts life was a lot easier. No glue is needed, the motor snaps in securely, then mount is screwed into frame using existing holes (screws included). This also allows easy removal of all parts later. Also works with HM-5 motors that have flywheels pre-installed. The footprint of this mount is the same as the stock Athearn motor enabling it to fit any application that uses that motor. Most locomotives require the frame to be "milled" with a rotary tool for the longer Kato motor to fit. This simple modification is necessary to place the motor's driveshafts at the same height as the original motor's driveshafts to ensure quiet and reliable operation (a limitation of the motor, not my mount). Does not fit small diesels (i.e. SW series) with only two motor mount holes in the bottom, as that is a smaller motor. Check my store for a different mount designed for switchers (link below).
