Flint may help you connect to your heritage, remove distractions, return to fundamentals, or help you feel secure in your person. This Ohio flint was excavated from natural flint beds from Nethers’ Farm and other nearby properties in central Ohio, USA. The flint is personally collected by me or obtained from local flint knappers and lapidarist who use the flint for modern arrowheads and jewelry. Flint is designated as the state gemstone of Ohio and is often described as the most colorful flint in the world. The flint beds formed millions of years ago at the bottom of an ancient ocean. Over time, the flint beds were buried under sediment and became part of the bedrock. Approximately 12,000 years ago, massive glaciers covered most of Ohio and scraped the ground down to bedrock layers. After the ice melted, the flint beds were exposed above the surface of the ground where indigenous people found the flint and used it for knives, spearpoints, arrowheads and other tools. Ohio flint was highly prized for its quality and color and widely traded throughout central and eastern North America.
