Description: I had always wanted to go to Portugal to play golf. But money and time were always keeping me away. I even suggested it to my non-golfing fiancee as a place for a honeymoon. We're divorced now. So, when my Friend, Umar, said he was going to Portugal from Greece, that perked up my ears. Especially since my golf caddy job was going to lay me off for 5 weeks because of the BMW Championships being played at my golf course. I had three weeks to get myself together and ready to go. So, I booked a very cheap flight; under $400 round trip. And, the only obstacle I had was getting a COVID test. It was a pandemic after all. I got the cheap flight on Air Canada. Canada, at this time, was very strict on their COVID-19 procedures. And, as I looked them up online, I saw that it was going to be cost prohibitive. But, then, I found out that my 7-hour layovers in Montreal weren't going to be regulated by Canada. I just needed to get a test in the USA. I had gotten a COVID-19 test about 10 months earlier on a failed attempt to get to Hawaii. That's another story. But, it seemed fairly harmless when I got it. The test I got in Baltimore seemed to have the swab touch the inner part of my brain for much longer than it needed. I'm pretty sure I teared up. It was traumatic. That was done and it was time to fly. Of course, I left my brand new tripod on the plane after landing in Montreal. I was devastated. I didn't realize it until I was heading for my connecting flight. I wasn't used to having a tripod while traveling. Still haven't recovered it. So, I was pretty much forced to shoot handheld or find improvised ways of keeping my camera still throughout my 3 week trip. This is a shot where I was sad about not having my tripod for a long exposure of the city center. I am still very happy with how it this handheld shot came out, though.
