The Aleutian Islands campaign was a military campaign fought between June 3, 1942 and August 15, 1943 on the Aleutian Islands (Alaska) during World War II. It was the only military campaign of World War II fought on North American soil. The Japanese landed and occupied the islands of Kiska and Atu.
