Description: Seyrigia humbertii is a truly unusual species, producing angled succulent stems densely flecked with wool and a tuberous underground caudex. More than that, it’s in Cucurbitaceae, making this bizarre looking plant a close relative of the pumpkin, cucumber, and melon. From river gorges around the town of Toliara, Madagascar. The Madagascan Cucurbits are an interesting group of plants with a substantial amount of succulent representatives. A recent phylogeny revealed that Cucurbitaceae originated in Asia and migrated around the world, reaching Madagascar 13 different times, presumably from the African mainland. The sale plant is a well established cutting grown plant with multiple new stems forming around the base. ======================================= Shipping & Returns: I typically ship one day per week, usually on Monday or Tuesday. Plants are all shipped USPS with tracking provided. If you buy multiple items, eBay should automatically combine shipping but let me know if that doesn’t work. I reserve the right to ship in pot with soil or bareroot at my discretion. I accept returns if you’re not satisfied with your order for any reason. Please contact me if there are problems and I will make sure we find a satisfactory resolution. International customers: I do offer phytosanitary certificates and have a successful track record of exporting to multiple different countries. Since there is a considerable amount of time involved with procuring the correct documentation, I have a minimum order of $600 for exporting with a phytosanitary certificate. I can ship smaller amounts without a phyto, but the order will be entirely at your risk with no refunds under any circumstances. The cost for the certificate and service is $40 + shipping. I will only ship USPS Priority Express International (EMS) which usually ranges from $40-200 depending on the size of the parcel. Failure to pay after winning an auction will result in a permanent ban. About me: I have been working with various rare plant sellers for the past four years to bring their offerings online and have just started to expand my own nursery business. My specialties are caudiciforms, xeric trees, winter growing succulents, and rare cacti. I especially love miniatures. I regularly exchange material with the most prominent botanic gardens worldwide and recently assisted with the description of a new species. I have not only an extensive knowledge of these plants and their habitats, but also the global market for them. Nurseries and landscape architects regularly consult my advice for pricing plants, and I pride myself on always selling plants for a fair cost and never gouging. Most plants on offer can’t be found elsewhere at all, let alone for the same prices and grown with the same attention to detail.
