This piece is not and did not test for sterling silver. It is a gorgeous filigree silver tone metal made in China which is commonly called Chinese Import jewelry. I do not know what the carving material is so keep that in mind when making a purchase. It appears to be a faux ivory material of some sort. Since the carving is so detailed, I can’t tell if there are any molding lines or marks, etc. It could be a plastic, shell or bone. I didn’t want to ruin the piece by using Simicrome to test for Bakelite or any heat or testing method that may damage it. The carved pieces are in place, but they do move/wiggle a little bit, so I urge you to have a professional insure that they are inserted firmly so you don’t lose any pieces while wearing it.
